Howdy from Wyoming! I was on my yearly "ski someplace I've never been" trip this year to Powderhorn Ski Resort by Mesa CO. and have always wanted to visit VSW. So I went east on I-70 when I hit Rifle & south when I hit Glenwood Springs. The store is more amazing in person! Richard & Mary were so nice to meet and shared so much knowledge. I had an event coming and needed some 1960's boots that would actually fit & ski with a 1965 Schobob! Richard spent a lot of time helping me find just the right ones. I went on to ski a couple of days and couldn't wait to get home & share my experiences. I can't wait to visit again. Many Thanks!!!!
Great to know that the ski boots Richard set you up with worked well! Thanks for stopping by, we enjoyed showing you around. Thanks also for your special review. We look forward to seeing you at the Showroom again some day.
VSW is a great place to buy as well as just look around. The pricing is great and it's interesting and a lot of fun to talk to and learn about skiing history from Richard. Super great!
Thanks so much! Richard really is a walking Ski History Library. Glad that you were able to drop into our Showroom!
I know very little regarding ski equipment and was having a very difficult time finding information on a pair of ski’s that had belonged to my father. I contacted Vintage SkI World, Richard was super friendly and he provided a wealth of detailed information on the ski’s. Can’t Thank You Enough!!!
So glad that Richard could give you some helpful info. Thanks for your kind review.
I'm praying someone can put my mind to rest, back in the late 60s or maybe 70s we got some demo skis from the states at our little mountain in eastern Canada, we were dared to break these skis and looked for rocks to do so, now the weird part is these skis had some kind of self repairing base when they were brought into a warm room so all gouges were fixed by the next morning ,,,, my brain is saying they were called Grave skis but I know that's not it , any help would put me in a happy place haha............ thanks
Sorry that we don't know the answer to this question, but they must not have made it through time, as we can't find anything like it - when we Search for this type of Ski or Ski Repair Kit.
If I could give them 100 stars I would.
Below is my recent experience with Richard at Vintage Ski World. I have a pair of fairly old and unique skis that belonged at one time to a person who is now famous (more or less). Richard took the time to look at my ski equipment photos, gave me his input during several phone conversations and emails and helped me decide what to do. He patiently treated me like a real person not like a dollar sign which is so refreshing in these challenging financial times. Richard is just a really good person who is trustworthy. That is my recent experience. Thank you!! Natalie
Fast shipping to Canada. Very nice quality of paper. Safe wrapping. Will add a nice touch of vintage ski at the cottage. Thanks a lot!
Richard and company could not provide a better service to anyone that even slightly reminiscences about their skiing past. What a great store and unbelievable items. I bought some vintage skis in great shape that are not just for the cabin wall - these are front and center for enjoyment all year round. Richard should be in a Ski Hall of Fame for his amazing eye for his efforts in giving back to the Sport and his amazing collection of gear!
Thanks Kirby for your kind words. I hope that your K2 Holidays are a great addition for the Seattle area Ski Museum! Sometimes it is a challenge for me to sell such premium skis out of my Collection, but it becomes easier when they are going to someone who knows their importance. Thanks for your support.
I met Richard Allen maybe 15 years ago or more, before VSW and we are still friends and I am still buying vintage, real vintage, ski artifacts from him. Sometimes we trade, on occasion he buys from me, but it's not just about the stuff, it's about shared experiences and knowledge. Richard shares his passion on a real global stage, and provides people everywhere with the opportunity to own real pieces of ski history.
Thanks Paul for your kind post. I also am so grateful for your support and vast knowledge about ski equipment and history. It has been helpful for you to be my 'go to guy' when I have questions about any of my products. Anyone who gets to Crested Butte should check out Paul's ski museum called the Ski History Inn, at the base of the Crested Butte ski area. I will be in Crested Butte to do a big sale with Paul at the Ski History Inn on July 12th & 13th. Don't miss it if your are in the area.
I just received the ski posters I ordered earlier this week and they are great. The posters are made of nice and thick paper. I also liked the way you wrapped them in tissue paper before putting them in the tube for shipping, it really preserved the edges of the posters. Thanks so much. I would highly recommend this site to all friends and family.
Thanks Leeanne for your post. It is really important to us that our customers get the posters in the same great condition that they are in, when we pack them for each order. All of the posters that we print are on nice think paper, which is our preference. Thanks for noticing.
Your passion keeps our heritage alive. Where we come from is so much more than a memory because you allow us to touch and feel our past. Your passion makes you our most meaningful ski historian. Thanks so much.
